You have to move forward knowing that when one door closes, another one opens. Believe that that door holds something even better for you. Forget the worry and be confident. No, you can't just sit at home and visualize your success, you must create plan of action to make it happen. Here's how Ferrazzi recommends you get started:

1. Brainstorm... Create Lists...
List your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Create a list of options. Don't over think this. Don't create personal limits. Dream big. Perhaps you've always wanted to become a veterinarian... Make a list of people who can help you.

2. Find Supportive Coaches, Advisors...
You'll need positive, trustworthy friends and mentors to whom you will confide your action plan and who will help hold you accountable to your commitments. Report to them your weekly progress - how many calls did you make? How many resumes did you send out? What did you do to take you closer to your goal?

3. Network...
Tell everyone you know what you need. A friend of mine was in trouble at her job. She was a bit prideful to tell her friends that she was struggling and in danger of losing her job. After a particularly stressful day, she broke down and confided her angst to another college friend. Turns out this college friend had an acquaintance that was a hiring manager at competitive firm that represented a dream position for my friend.

Life is a journey. Enjoy every stop along the way. You're only going where you need to be...!

The Perfect Friendship is Based on Goodness

Friendship is almost a necesity for living. Who would choose to live without friends even if he had all other good things in life? There are, however, opposing views about what makes for a good friendship. Some believe that we make friends with those who are most like ourselves. Others take the contrary view. Philosopher, Aristotle described three kinds of friendships --

Friendship based on utility...
Utility is a transient thing: it changes according to circumstances. So when the grounds for friendship disappears, the friendship also breaks up, because that was what kept it alive.

Friends like this don't usually spend much time together, because sometimes they do not even like one another. There is no need for association unless there is mutual benefit. Friends of this nature take pleasure in each other's company only in so far as they have hopes of advantage from it.

Friendship based on pleasure...
Friendship between the young is often dictated by their desire for pleasure. Because the lives of the young are often guided by their feelings, their primary interest is in their own pleasure and instant gratification. As is often the case with the young, they are fickle. Their tastes change. They are quick to make and to break friendships; because their affection changes just as the things that please them.

Also, when the young fall in love, their erotic friendship is often guided by their feelings and based on pleasure. That is why they fall in and out of friendship quickly, changing their attitude often within the same day. The young, however, like to spend lots of time together, because that is how they realize the object of their friendship.

Perfect friendship is based on goodness...
Only the friendship of those who are good, and similar in their goodness, is perfect. For these people truly wish good for the other. It is those who desire good for their friends sake that are most truly friends, because each loves the other for what he or she is, and not for any other incidental quality.

Accordingly, the bonds of such friends lasts so long as each party remains good; and goodness is an enduring quality. Since each party is good both absolutely and for his friend, they are useful to each other. They also please one another because the good are pleasing and everyone is pleased with his own conduct and conduct that resembles it, and the conduct of good friends is the same or similar.

All friendship has as its object something good or pleasant either absolutely or relatively to the person who feels the affection and is based on some similarity between the parties.

But a perfect friendship is permanent because in it are united all the attributes that friends ought to possess. Specifically, all the good qualities that we have mentioned belong to both the friends themselves; because in it there is similarity; and what is absolutely good is also absolutely pleasant; and these are the most lovable qualities. Therefore it is between good people that both love and friendship are found and in the highest form.

That such friendships are rare is natural, because people of this kind are rare. In addition they need time to develop and intimacy; for as the saying goes, you cannot get to know each other until you have weathered some storms together. Nor can one person accept another, or the two become friends, until each has proven to the other that he is worthy of love, and so won his trust.

Those who are quick to make friendly advances to each other have the desire to be friends, but they are not unless they are worthy of love and know it. The wish for friendship develops rapidly, but friendship does not.

Aristotle expressed these views about friendship in the Nichomachean Ethics in 350 B.C.E (1155a3, 1156a16-1156b23).
True friends have always been rare.

Be Good... Value Friends... Enjoy Life!

The rule used to be that red wine went with red meat, and white wine went with fish and poultry. Things have changed. The only rule is that you drink whatever wine enhances your appreciation of your meal.

Now that there are no rules, here's the challenge -- how do you know where to begin when combining food and wine? Here are some simple guidelines to get you started:

The most important thing to remember is that neither the food nor the wine should overpower the other in taste and flavor. When you are eating your food it should be a delectable experience that tingles the palette. When you drink wine, it should complement your meal so that each taste is distinctive. Either the food or the wine should be the star the moment it reaches your tastebuds. If either wine or food outshines the other, you do not have a good pairing. If the memory of dinner that lingers in your mind is how great those garlic mashed potatoes were, and not how fulfilling your entire meal was, something went wrong.

In order to achieve the proper balance between your wine and food, consider the dominant flavors found in each. Sweeter foods like desserts should go with the sweeter wines. Foods with a heavier flavor, such as steak, should accompany a heavier wine. And foods that contain ingredients like lemon or vinegar should be paired with a more acidic wine. How do you know if a wine is sweet, acidic, heavy or light? Here's a quick and real general guide:

Acidic wines
White Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, White Bordeaux
Red Wines: Pinot Noir, Red Burgundy, Sangiovese, and Gamay

Bitter wines
Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Bordeaux, Red Zinfandel, and Merlot

Sweet Wines
Vovray, Asti Spumantem, Chenin Blanc

Combining wine and food can be a lot of fun as you learn what about your personal preferences. Consider inviting a few friends over for a meal and asking that they each bring a bottle of wine to complement the meal that you plan to serve. Employ the tips above and your taste buds will be well on a journey to experience a joy they’ve never known.

The Appraisal

After you have examined the wine with your other senses, ask yourself about what you have just experienced. Was the wine dry or smooth? True wine experts ask these questions before placing a wine under the name of one brand or another. Just like the experts do, you will need to experience more than one wine to gain insight. Don’t rush through the process, but allow your skill to grow gradually.

Wine is meant to be savored and should be an experience that involves almost all of the senses. Having the right type of wine glass will enhance the flavors and smells of the wine, which contribute to the overall experience. It may be worth the expense to purchase good quality crystal wine glasses, but expect to pay as much as $100 per glass. There are several things to keep in mind when searching for the right type of glass. Here they are:

The Color Choice

There is no set rule as to which types of wine must be poured into which types of glass, however, traditionally, while white is poured into smaller glasses that complement their more mild flavors while red wines are usually poured into larger glasses that will embody their fuller, richer flavors.

Certain types of glass can influence the taste and smell of wine, either making the experience richer or poorer as a result. More expensive, well made glasses are made from crystal and are usually worth the extra expense; however the most important point to remember is to purchase glasses with a clear color to avoid influencing the color of the wine.

The Stand Up Cup

A long, graceful stem traditional signifies a wine glass from other similar ones, such as those used for pouring brandy. Newer wine glasses may not come with stems, and can be as well made as traditional ones; however the stemless glass may be rejected by old school wine lovers.

Don’t Cry Over Spilled Wine

Wine glasses break. It’s almost a guarantee that, at some point, no matter how well you have cared for your wine glasses, someone will break one. It is a good idea to keep a few extra, in the event that someone accidentally cracks or chips or breaks a wine glass. If possible, don’t use them all at once, in case you can’t afford extras. Keep parties where wine is served on short guest list or consider keeping a cheaper set on hand for larger gatherings.

Cleaning Care

Wine glasses, especially crystal ones, are susceptible to being scratched by hard pounding and the scratchy soaps of a dishwasher.

Wine glasses should always be washed by hand to avoid this and dried immediately afterwards to prevent streaking.

Is there anything more romantic than a candle lit dinner for two with a bottle of good old wine to compliment the fine cooking? Most will agree that hardly anything can be called more romantic. But unfortunately wine and wine drinking today is not what it used to be in the past centuries. Many people today are reluctant to order wine, and not because it does not taste good, but rather for the simple reason of not knowing too much about it.

There are many different types of wines available and bellow are some basic facts about them.

Red wines seem to be a more popular choice among the wine drinkers. Aside from the health benefits of red wines these beverages come in most exotic tastes and flavors. The specifics of red wine are due to the fact that the grapes are fermented with the skins, hence the color of the wine. The longer the skins remain on the grapes, the redder will be the shade of the wine. Some common red wines include Gamay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Zinfadel.

Second on the list are white wines. White wines are considered to be lighter and more delicate than the red wines. They can be made from both red and white grapes but are prepared without the grape skins. Some of the white favorites are Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay.

There are also pink and rose wines. These wines are somewhat of a combination of qualities of red and white wines. These wines are made primarily from red grapes and allow for minimal contact with the grape skin.

Dessert wines are a special kind of wine that complements well with desserts. These wines are usually combined with spirits and should generally be sweeter than the dessert itself. Some of dessert wines most popular are Sherry, Vermouth, Madeira and Port.

Last, but definitely never least, are the sparkling wines which manage to make absolutely any occasion special. These wines can definitely be called the royalty of the wine house. They are delicate and extravagant, enough to bring a feeling of grandeur to any event. The best and most known sparkling wine, valued extremely high, is Champagne, produced through a very complex and tedious process in France.
